At 7am this morning (5th November) police were called to Speedwell Road, Edgbaston after a house was reported to be up in flames.

One women was declared dead upon arrival at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and three people (two women, one man) have been injured and taken to hospital. Fire crews say of the three injured, two escaped by jumping from an upstairs window. The third person appeared to be unable to flee and had to be rescued by the fire fighters.

Police have announced that the incident is now being treated as a murder investigation. Forensic teams are searching the house for any signs of evidence.
