Music Editor Issy Campbell previews SUBMiSSiON, a night promising to bring the best of funk, soul and disco to The Night Owl

Tuesday 28th of November will see a brand-new event hit the streets of Digbeth called SUBMiSSiON - a night celebrating all things funk, soul and disco. Taking over The Night Owl, the event promises to offer up something more diverse than the typical student night out.

To complete this line-up is Groove Directory, a high-energy seven-piece band that play a range of genres from funk to swing, 70s classics to current pop tunes

Ran by the student record label New Street Records, the night will consist of DJs as well as a live band all from our very own UoB. The DJs include Barney MK (a fresher living on the vale who will be playing a vinyl set), SIX7FOUR (a disco duo well known for DJ’ing house parties in Selly Oak) and F.O.D, a third-year politics student-turned electronic DJ signed to New Street’s label. To complete this line-up is Groove Directory, a high-energy seven-piece band that play a range of genres from funk to swing, 70s classics to current pop tunes. The lead singer, Rebecca Wilkins’ vocals will truly blow you away in this intimate venue. The band have even played at Itchy Feet, a vibe similar to the one SUBMiSSiON is providing.

First release has already sold out, but general sale is only £4+bf making it an affordable student alternative to a typical night out in Digbeth or Broad Street. Click here to get your tickets now. Click here to join the event on facebook.
