Single Review: Beach House – Lemon Glow
Beach House's latest single continues their trademark fusion of romantic themes and psychedelia to great effect, says Letty Gardner
Releasing ‘Lemon Glow’ late on Valentine’s Day, Beach House return with their romantic, metallic sound on their first new single since acclaimed double release Depression Cherry and Thank Your Lucky Stars. The lush, soft-edged dream pop of Baltimore duo Victoria Legrand and Alex Scally has enchanted listeners for six albums, and ‘Lemon Glow’ teases a renewed sound for their upcoming seventh album.
“Lemon Glow’ is hazy and pulsating, cleverly intertwining a muted drum beat with fumbling guitar and buzzing synthesizer
‘Lemon Glow’ takes love as its focus, and in this way, it is classic Beach House. Emotional connection is the track’s interest and being released on Valentine’s Day the band know exactly what they are doing. Beach House claim that the seventh studio album will be released later this spring, a dark yet warm soundtrack to summer.
