E3 2012 – Redbrick Looks At The Biggest Event in Gaming

The 2012 Electronic Entertainment Expo is in full swing, and while all of the action is going on at the LA Convention Centre, there is plenty to enjoy for us back in the UK. The last few days have seen the 3 hardware manufacturers, Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo and the big third party publishers Ubisoft and EA showing their wares in televised press conferences. This year was set to include new console announcements and the final big titles for the current generation, so there was plenty to look forward to. We covered all 5 of the conferences live on our Twitter @RedbrickTech but below you can find a round-up of the big three.
The most shocking thing about E3 2012 was that there were very few shocking moments. New IP was scarce across the show, only Ubisoft's Watch Dogs made waves when announced at the publisher's conference. Everyone felt like they were treading water, and for every The Last of Us, there were 3 sequels to games that probably should be saved for the next generation. There's a reason why Gears of War and God of War both showed non numbered sequels this year, as Sony and Microsoft try to work out how to extend this generation's life cycle. There is a lot to forward to in games over the next 12 months, and yet E3 2012 still left us wanting more.
