Suki Waterhouse’s latest single ‘OMG’ is an effortless fusion of pop and rock, marking a great first release of 2024 for the artist. The track is subtle yet powerful, Waterhouse delivering another flawlessly produced hit which is promising ahead of her forthcoming sophomore album.

The track opens with a buoyant bassline and grungey synths before a simple drum beat kicks in. Waterhouse adopts an almost apathetic approach to her delivery as she reflects on a past relationship which caused her to lose track of who she is. This artistic choice is effective, successfully expressing her frustration and exhaustion brought on by this toxic relationship.

Full-throttle guitars and lively drums burst into action and the singer’s voice is delightfully powerful as she belts pleadingly

‘OMG’ is brought to life by its chorus. Full-throttle guitars and lively drums burst into action and the singer’s voice is delightfully powerful as she belts pleadingly, ‘Oh my God/ Take me back the way that I was/ The way that I was’. As we enter the second verse, Waterhouse introduces a shift in the song’s tone sounding more assured despite the pace being brought back down.

The bridge is emotionally charged, dripping with self-pity as the track swells before crashing back into the explosive chorus. The song ends as the chorus fades out leaving a lasting impression on the listener. ‘OMG’ is a solid pop-rock track which follows current trends in music but also implements a sense of Suki Waterhouse’s individual style.
