Enola Holmes 2 is the sequel which follows the smash hit Netflix blockbuster Enola Holmes which was released in 2020. Sherlock’s sister returns with even more wit and charm than ever. The film follows Enola Holmes (Millie Bobby Brown) as she takes on her first missing person case as a detective, but she has underestimated how much help she needs and turns to her old friends and brother Sherlock Holmes (Henry Cavill).

the perfect form of escapism for anyone looking to solve a case with Enola Holmes by your side

The movie is an adventure, mystery and crime film so it is the perfect form of escapism for anyone looking to solve a case with Enola Holmes by your side. With the small amount of romance between Holmes and Tewkesbury, it is pretty easy to immerse yourself in the world of Enola Holmes 2.

The actors and actresses of Enola Holmes 2 take the stage and give enticing performances throughout the majority of the film. Millie Bobby Brown uses her wit and charm to make herself relatable to the audience and I think she does this perfectly. Louis Partridge as Lord Tewkesbury is very memorable and gives a nostalgic sense to his previous performance.

Director Harry Bradbeer made very interesting and smart choices throughout the film, particularly the main female protagonist breaking the fourth wall

The gradual pacing of the film gives a sense of mystery to the overall plot. Director Harry Bradbeer made very interesting and smart choices throughout the film, particularly the main female protagonist breaking the fourth wall. This was an interesting choice made by Bradbeer as it shows how he wants to involve the audience as much as possible in the film. This makes the film very unique because it shows how Bradbeer wants to educate the audience about historical events which were relevant to the plot overall, this time it involves the matchgirls’ strike of 1888.

The cinematography and colour palette of Enola Holmes 2 gave a sense of enigma. The darker tones showed the serious aspects which were present in the film, including the significance of the missing person case which makes up the majority of the plot. However, the warmer tones show the light-hearted aspects too.

Verdict:

Enola Holmes 2 follows the first film perfectly without fail and the performance of Millie Bobby Brown as Enola Holmes is definitely memorable. The plot of the film definitely stood out to me and significantly drove the plot forward.

Rating: 7/10
