Indie trio The Wombats have announced a second tour of the UK and Ireland in 2022 for August and October. They are already set to play dates in Leeds, Cardiff and Glasgow as well as a huge show at The O2 and three nights in their hometown of Liverpool in April. The second instalment will see them visit even more cities including Birmingham, Manchester and Edinburgh and go to Ireland to perform in Dublin and Belfast.

The band have just finished their cross US tour which started in Washington DC on 20th January and ended in LA on the 25th of February, and between the two sets of UK concerts will also travel around Europe and Australia. Last summer they performed to thousands of delighted fans at both Reading and Leeds Festival and Neighbourhood Weekender which marked their first shows in two years. Being long time festival favourites, this year The Wombats are set to perform at Victorious Festival in Southsea and headline Community Festival in London with other appearances likely to follow.

There is no doubt that the tour will bring playful singalongs and colourful fun to audiences up and down the country

The announcement comes in the wake of the release of their fifth album Fix Yourself, Not the World in January. The record saw them once again tap into and develop their much-loved exciting and addictive sound to tackle relationships, the music industry and the COVID-19 pandemic with high energy music and clever and cheeky lyrics. Featuring classic Wombats sounding tracks like ‘If You Ever Leave, I’m Coming With You’ alongside songs like ‘Method to the Madness’ that see them move in a different direction the album has shown that The Wombats are still a massively charming and creative group after almost 20 years together. In the build up to the release of Fix Yourself, Not the World the band played at smaller venues across the UK culminating in a midnight performance on 13th January 2022 in Liverpool’s Invisible Wind Factory to celebrate the album’s release.

The Wombats have always been one of the country’s favourite live bands so there is no doubt that the tour will bring playful singalongs and colourful fun to audiences up and down the country. The party starts in Edinburgh on the 12th of August 2022 before arriving in Birmingham on the 23rd of October. With the band armed with plenty of new tunes along with infectious classics like ‘Moving to New York’ and ‘Let’s Dance to Joy Division,’ any fans of the group or live music in general will not want to miss out.
