Paloma Faith’s new single ‘Gold’, co-written with Sigrid, showcases her unique vocals. The single is released ahead of her fifth studio album Infinite Things (out November 13th), only weeks after releasing the singles ‘Better Than This’ ‘‘Falling Down’ and ‘Last Night on Earth.’ And once again Paloma Faith delivers. The single is a blend of contemporary pop and ‘60s influence, celebrating life and maintaining its energy to the end.

ts feel good attitude is emphasized by its energetic sound as the sound continues to build

Opening with ‘I got a feeling that tonight is on my side’ in a muted voice, before Faith comes in with her striking vocals: ‘Oh, I don’t care, I gotta celebrate the moment / Gonna own it before it blows away, blows away’. The song begins with a positive celebration of life that leads into a chorus: ‘But oh, I got a feeling that tonight is on my side / I got it, I got it, I’m gold, shining so bright, yeah I’m gold’. Its feel good attitude is emphasized by its energetic sound as the sound continues to build. The backing vocalists then join in with ‘I got a feeling….’, completing the song with their gospel sound, creating a communal feeling of freedom and celebration, encapsulating a much needed feeling of solidarity and positivity at a time like this.

Faith said of the song: ‘Gold’ is the only song on the album which wasn’t recorded in my basement … As a result it embodies freedom and joy and a celebration of life, perfect escapism for a time when we need to remember we are free spirits. ‘Gold’ is a song about how the spirit conquers everything and whatever you are going through your true virtues are inside you.’ This message is accompanied by the music video featuring Paloma Faith defiantly dancing in a building site, surrounded by bold back up dancers and ends with Faith hanging off a yellow digger, a stunt she performed while pregnant.

The song ends with the repeated lines ‘There’s nothing better than to hear the sound, hear the sound / The sound of thunder when I hit the ground / Oh, I got a feeling that tonight is on my side / (I got it, I got it, I’m gold, I’m shining so bright, yeah I’m gold)’, solidifying its feel-good attitude.
